The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office is accepting pre-screen applications for the position of part-time School Crossing Guard. This position performs and facilitates the safe crossing of pedestrians (school-age children, parents, and citizens) following the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) guidelines and Sheriff’s Office policies/directives, with certified training provided by School Crossing Guard personnel. The salary for this position is $10.36 per hour and requires a Monday – Friday work schedule with 4-hour shifts (mornings and afternoons) throughout the school year. Crossing guard posts are available in various areas within Seminole County. The closing date for this position is October 25, 2017.

The pre-screen questionnaire may be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by hand delivering to the Information Desk. Please note: a Background Investigation Waiver form (included in the questionnaire) must be notarized prior to submitting your questionnaire; failure to comply could disqualify your pre-screen questionnaire. Any costs associated with the completion of this form is the responsibility of the applicant. The Sheriff’s Office does not provide Notary service for this form.
- Applicants must have and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License
- Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Applicants must be available Monday through Friday during morning and afternoon hours
Successful candidates will be required to complete and submit an employment application, which is subjected to a comprehensive background investigation to include, but not limited to; verification of past employment/education, driver’s license review, credit history, prior drug use, arrest/conviction records, and a Computerized Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA) test. Any dishonesty or deception detected during the CVSA may disqualify your application.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office is a drug free workplace. Those selected for employment will be required to submit to a medical examination with drug screening.
Candidates for employment must comply with the Body Ornamentation policy which includes tattoos, brands, intentional body/tongue piercing (not including normal piercing of the earlobe for earrings) or mutilation and dental ornamentation. Full disclosure for any visible body ornamentation, including tattoo photos, must be submitted along with the employment application. “Visible” is defined as body ornamentation that is visible on the arm below the sleeve of a short sleeve or golf-style shirt or above the collar of a short sleeve or golf-style shirt. Any visible body ornamentation must be disclosed at the time of application.
Applicants not selected for employment will receive written notification from Human Resources with a brief justification for non-selection. Applicants will be eligible to reapply with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office one year from the date of notification.
